Gurei & High Times System Requirements: PC Specs, Console Performance & Steam Deck Guide
Two very different games launched on the same day in July 2026, and both are worth checking against your hardware before you buy. Gurei is a hand-drawn chanbara-inspired boss rush from Brazilian studio Lobo Sagaz, and its PC demands are exceptionally modest. High Times is a comic-book style cooking and dating sim from Philippine studio Yangyang Mobile, and it is the slightly more demanding of the two. This guide covers the official PC specifications for both, alongside console performance details and Steam Deck status. All specifications are taken from the official Gurei Steam page and the High Times Steam page, cross-checked against VGtimes, PCGameBenchmark, and MonsterVine.
Gurei System Requirements
Gurei is a hand-drawn 2D action game built in Unity, inspired by classic Japanese samurai films. You play as Rei, a human spirit who challenges the Kami in any order you choose, with a dynamic difficulty system where each boss’s strength depends on your chosen path. Performance-wise, this is one of the lightest action games of 2026.

Source: Gurei Demo Steam store page, VGtimes, and PCGameBenchmark. Last verified: 21 September 2026.
What this means in practice: The minimum tier targets 1080p at 60 fps on the game’s default settings. The Intel Core i3-2100 is a 2011 processor and the Intel HD 3000 is integrated graphics from the same era. This is hardware from the Windows 7 era, and the game is designed to run on laptops and desktops with no dedicated GPU at all. Because the minimum calls for integrated graphics, there is no separate VRAM requirement beyond the 1 GB figure, which is shared with system memory. The 2 GB system RAM floor is modest, and the 1 GB install size is tiny. If you own a computer built in the last twelve years, you will clear this bar comfortably.
Recommended (Windows)
| Component | Requirement |
|---|---|
| OS | Windows 7 SP1 (Steam client now requires Windows 10 or newer) |
| Processor | Dual Core 3.0 GHz+ |
| Memory (RAM) | 4 GB |
| Graphics | 2 GB VRAM / DirectX 10+ support (Intel HD 4000) |
| VRAM | 2 GB |

| Storage | 1 GB available space |
| Additional Notes | Identical to the Minimum specification in most fields. |
Source: Gurei Demo Steam store page, FHYX, and PCGameBenchmark. Last verified: 21 September 2026.
What this means in practice: The recommended tier targets 1080p at 60 fps on higher settings. The jump from a 2.4 GHz dual-core to a 3.0 GHz+ dual-core processor is the most meaningful change, and the RAM doubles from 2 GB to 4 GB. The GPU requirement moves from Intel HD 3000 to Intel HD 4000, which is still integrated graphics but from 2012 rather than 2011. This is not a demanding upgrade path. If you have a computer built in the last decade with 4 GB of RAM, you will meet this tier without issue. The 1 GB install size remains unchanged.
A Note on VRAM and System RAM
Gurei is a hand-drawn 2D action game with sprite-based animation, static backgrounds, and a monochrome art style. The 1 GB VRAM minimum is tiny and reflects the game’s low-resolution textures and minimal asset load. You will not be VRAM-limited at any resolution the game supports. The 2 GB system RAM minimum is the more relevant constraint, and it reflects the game’s memory footprint holding multiple boss arenas, animation frames, and the dynamic difficulty state in memory simultaneously. Do not upgrade your GPU for this game. If you have 4 GB of RAM and a computer built in the last decade, you are covered.
PlayStation 5 and PS4
| Component | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Firmware | Latest PS5 or PS4 system software |
| Storage | Not specified on the PlayStation Store listing; PC version requires 1 GB |
| Performance | “Good performance” on PS5 with “no frame drops” according to Emerald Corp |

Source: PlayStation Store listing for Gurei and Emerald Corp’s PS5 review. Last verified: 21 September 2026.
What this means in practice: The PS5 version launched on 23 July 2026 and Emerald Corp’s review states that “on PlayStation 5 the game delivers good performance, explores the qualities of the game well without frame drops or poorly polished pixel problems in the scenarios.” The DualSense controller’s vibration feature is supported. The PS4 version is also available, and the game can be played on PS5 via backward compatibility. If you own a PS5, this version performs impeccably without any technical concerns. The game is a 1-player experience with no online multiplayer or co-op.
Nintendo Switch
| Component | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Firmware | Latest Nintendo Switch system software |
| Storage | Not specified on the Nintendo eShop listing; PC version requires 1 GB |
| Performance | Specific targets not published; the game was released on Switch alongside PS5 and PC on July 23, 2026 |
| Additional Notes | TV, Tabletop, and Handheld modes supported. Console demo available from May 21, 2026. |
Source: Gematsu’s release coverage and Astrolabe Games’ launch press release. Last verified: 21 September 2026.
What this means in practice: The Switch version launched on 23 July 2026 alongside the PS5 and PC versions. Gematsu confirms the game “will launch for PlayStation 5 and Switch on July 23 alongside its previously announced PC release.” Gameplay Studio has not published specific resolution or frame rate targets for the Switch. Given the game’s extremely low PC requirements and the Switch’s hardware, a smooth 60 fps experience is a reasonable expectation, though this has not been independently verified. If you own a Switch, the game is available, but check current community reports for performance details before purchasing.
Steam Deck
| Component | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Compatibility | Playable (Valve’s official rating) |
| Performance | Runs natively on SteamOS; 84% positive user reviews from players “mostly on Steam Deck” |
| Additional Notes | Rated Playable rather than Verified. The demo is available and free. |
Source: Gurei Demo Steam store page and SteamDB. Last verified: 21 September 2026.
What this means in practice: Gurei carries a Playable rating on Steam Deck, Valve’s middle compatibility tier. The Steam page for the demo shows 84% positive user reviews from players whose playtime was “mostly on Steam Deck,” which is a strong indicator that the handheld experience is solid. The game’s 1 GB install size is tiny, and the 2 GB RAM minimum is well within the Deck’s capabilities. The game is rated Playable rather than Verified, which typically means some text may be small or some minor configuration may be needed. If you own a Steam Deck and enjoy challenging action games, this is a functional portable experience with no significant caveats.
macOS and Linux: Not Available
Gurei is a Windows-only release on PC. SteamDB’s supported systems data lists Windows only, and there is no macOS or native Linux version available. Steam Deck users play through SteamOS, and the Playable rating confirms that this works.
High Times System Requirements
High Times is a narrative cooking and dating sim from Yangyang Mobile, built around a comic-book art style and a “Donut Therapy” mechanic where the pastries you make alter your customers’ emotions. It launched on 23 July 2026 for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2.
Minimum (Windows)
| Component | Requirement |
|---|---|
| OS | Windows 7/8/10/11 (Steam client now requires Windows 10 or newer) |
| Processor | 2 GHz or greater |
| Memory (RAM) | 3 GB |
| Graphics | GTX 660 or better |
| VRAM | Not listed separately; the GTX 660 ships with 2 GB or 3 GB |
| DirectX | Version 10 |
| Storage | 5 GB available space |
| Additional Notes | No controller support. Visual novel presentation with fully animated cutscenes. |
Source: High Times – Digital Artbook Steam page and PCGameBenchmark. Last verified: 21 September 2026.
What this means in practice: The minimum tier targets 1080p at 60 fps on the game’s default settings. The 2 GHz processor requirement is deliberately broad, covering chips from roughly 2005 onward, and the GTX 660 is a 2012 mid-range card. This is hardware from the Windows 7 era. The 3 GB system RAM floor is modest, and the 5 GB install size reflects the game’s animated cutscenes, English voice acting, and original soundtrack. The GTX 660’s 2 GB VRAM is more than sufficient for a 2D visual novel, so you will not be VRAM-limited at 1080p. If you have a gaming PC from the last ten to twelve years, you will clear this bar comfortably.
Recommended (Windows): Not Published
Yangyang Mobile has not published a Recommended specifications tier for High Times. The Steam page lists only a single Minimum configuration, with no higher hardware target. This is common for visual novels and narrative games, where the developer expects the minimum specification to deliver a smooth experience at higher resolutions. The absence of a Recommended tier is not a concern here: the game runs at 1080p and 60 fps on a GTX 660, so any GPU from the last decade will comfortably handle higher resolutions. If your PC clears the minimum, you can expect to run High Times at your display’s native resolution without meaningful performance loss. One third-party listing from Razer Deals lists an older specification with Windows XP/Vista and a GTX 260, but the current official Steam page lists Windows 7/8/10/11 and a GTX 660, which is the specification I have used here.
A Note on VRAM and System RAM
High Times is a 2D visual novel with hand-drawn comic-book art, sprite-based characters, and animated cutscenes. The GTX 660’s 2 GB VRAM is far more than the game will ever use. You will not encounter texture streaming issues or VRAM bottlenecks at any resolution. The 3 GB system RAM figure is the more relevant constraint, and it reflects the game’s memory footprint holding dialogue trees for 30+ characters, the cooking minigame’s recipe database, and the animated cutscene data in memory simultaneously. Do not upgrade your GPU for this game. If you have 3 GB of RAM and a computer built in the last decade, you are covered.
macOS
| Component | Requirement |
|---|---|
| OS | OS X 10.10+ |
| Processor | Apple M1 or Intel Core M |
| Memory (RAM) | 3 GB |
| Graphics | 512 MB video memory, OpenGL 2 |
| VRAM | 512 MB |
| Storage | 5 GB available space |
| Additional Notes | Native macOS build. |
Source: High Times – Digital Artbook Steam page. Last verified: 21 September 2026.
What this means in practice: The macOS version supports both Intel Macs from roughly 2015 onward and Apple Silicon Macs from late 2020 onward. The 3 GB RAM requirement matches the Windows minimum, and the 512 MB VRAM figure is tiny. The 5 GB install size is identical across platforms. If you own a Mac from the last decade, you can run High Times without issue.
Linux / SteamOS
| Component | Requirement |
|---|---|
| OS | Ubuntu 12.04 or newer |
| Processor | 2 GHz or greater |
| Graphics | GTX 660 or better |
| Storage | 5 GB available space |
| Additional Notes | Native Linux build. |
Source: High Times – Digital Artbook Steam page. Last verified: 21 September 2026.
What this means in practice: The Linux minimum mirrors the Windows tier closely. This is a native Linux build rather than a Proton compatibility layer, which is good news for performance and stability. If you are running a modern Linux distribution on a PC with a dedicated GPU, you will have no trouble running High Times.
PlayStation 5
| Component | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Firmware | Latest PS5 system software |
| Storage | Not specified on the PlayStation Store listing; PC version requires 5 GB |
| Performance | Specific resolution and frame rate targets not published by Yangyang Mobile |
| Additional Notes | Single player. Comic-book art style. Fully animated cutscenes. |
Source: Yangyang Mobile’s official launch press release and MonsterVine. Last verified: 21 September 2026.
What this means in practice: The PS5 version launched on 23 July 2026 alongside the PC, Xbox, and Switch versions. Yangyang Mobile has not published specific resolution or frame rate targets for the PS5. Given the game’s low PC requirements and the PS5’s hardware, you should expect a smooth 60 fps experience at 1080p or higher. The game is a single-player narrative experience with no online multiplayer or co-op. If you own a PS5, this version should perform without any technical concerns.
Xbox Series X|S
| Component | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Firmware | Latest Xbox system software |
| Storage | Not specified on the Xbox Store listing; PC version requires 5 GB |
| Performance | Specific resolution and frame rate targets not published by Yangyang Mobile |
| Additional Notes | Single player. Xbox achievements and cloud saves. |
Source: Yangyang Mobile’s official launch press release and MonsterVine. Last verified: 21 September 2026.
What this means in practice: The Xbox version launched on 23 July 2026 and is available on Xbox Series X|S. Yangyang Mobile has not published specific resolution or frame rate targets. Given the game’s low system requirements and the hardware capabilities of the Series X, a smooth 60 fps experience is a reasonable expectation. The Xbox Series S version will run at a lower resolution, though this remains unconfirmed. The game supports Xbox achievements and cloud saves.
Nintendo Switch and Switch 2
| Component | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Firmware | Latest Nintendo Switch system software |
| Storage | Not specified on the Nintendo eShop listing; PC version requires 5 GB |
| Performance | Specific resolution and frame rate targets not published by Yangyang Mobile |
| Additional Notes | TV, Tabletop, and Handheld modes supported. The game launched on both Switch and Switch 2 simultaneously. |
Source: Yangyang Mobile’s official launch press release, MonsterVine, and Wikipedia. Last verified: 21 September 2026.
What this means in practice: The Switch and Switch 2 versions launched on 23 July 2026 alongside the other platforms. Yangyang Mobile has not published specific resolution or frame rate targets for either console. Given the game’s 2D visual novel presentation and the Switch’s hardware, the original Switch version should run at a smooth frame rate, and the Switch 2 version should comfortably handle higher resolutions. The 5 GB install size is moderate for a visual novel and reflects the animated cutscenes and voice acting. If you own a Switch or Switch 2, this is a natural fit for handheld play given the game’s narrative structure and short daily loops.
Steam Deck
| Component | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Compatibility | Unknown (Valve’s official rating); native Linux build suggests compatibility |
| Performance | Playable according to the game’s native Linux support and low system requirements |
| Additional Notes | No controller support confirmed. The game’s 5 GB install size is manageable. |
Source: High Times – Digital Artbook Steam page, tuxDB, and Steambase. Last verified: 21 September 2026.
What this means in practice: High Times has no official Steam Deck rating from Valve as of my verification date. However, the game has a native Linux build, which means it should run on SteamOS without relying on Proton. The game’s GTX 660 minimum GPU is within the Steam Deck’s capabilities, and the 3 GB RAM requirement is well below the Deck’s 16 GB. The 5 GB install size is manageable. The one caveat is that controller support is not confirmed on the Steam page, which suggests the game may be designed for keyboard and mouse. If you own a Steam Deck, check community reports before purchasing to confirm the controls work well on the handheld’s gamepad.
Final Verdict: Which of These Two Games Fits Your Setup?
Both games are accessible, but they sit at slightly different points on the hardware spectrum.
Gurei is the lighter of the two on PC. Its minimum spec asks for a dual-core 2.4 GHz processor, 2 GB of RAM, and 1 GB of VRAM, with a 1 GB install size. It is designed to run on integrated graphics from 2011. The recommended spec asks for a 3.0 GHz+ dual-core and 4 GB of RAM, which is still hardware from roughly a decade ago. On PS5, the game delivers “good performance” with “no frame drops” according to Emerald Corp. On Steam Deck, it carries a Playable rating with 84% positive user reviews from players mostly on the Deck. There is no macOS or Linux version.
High Times is the slightly more demanding of the two. Its minimum spec asks for a 2 GHz processor, 3 GB of RAM, and a GTX 660, with a 5 GB install size. The GTX 660 is a 2012 mid-level card, so if you have any dedicated GPU from the last decade, you will meet this specification. The game has a native macOS and Linux build, which is increasingly rare and worth highlighting. On PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and Switch 2, the game launched simultaneously on 23 July 2026, though specific performance targets have not been published by Yangyang Mobile. On Steam Deck, the native Linux build suggests compatibility, but controller support is unconfirmed, so check community reports before buying for handheld play.
If you own a gaming PC from the last decade, you can run both games. If you are choosing between them, Gurei is the lighter and more portable-friendly option with a confirmed Steam Deck rating, while High Times offers native macOS and Linux support and runs on a wider range of platforms including Nintendo Switch.
