007 First Light System Requirements: PC Specs, PS5, Xbox Series X|S & Steam Deck Performance Guide

007 First Light is IO Interactive’s reimagined James Bond origin story, built on a significantly evolved version of the Glacier engine that powered the Hitman trilogy, and it launched on 27 May 2026 for PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, as well as PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with the Nintendo Switch 2 version delayed to Summer 2026. Performance-wise, this is a genuinely demanding AAA title that received four specification revisions before launch, and IO Interactive has been unusually transparent about the hardware trade-offs across platforms. The PC version supports DLSS 4.5 with Multi Frame Generation, and the Nintendo Switch 2 version requires over 75 GB of storage on a Game-Key Card.

Source: IO Interactive’s official PC specifications, PlayStation Support, and OC3D. Last verified: 3 October 2026.

What this means in practice: The minimum tier targets 1080p at 30 fps on Low settings, and the GTX 1660 is a 2019 mid-range card. The 8 GB VRAM floor is the detail that matters most: a 6 GB card will not meet this specification. The 16 GB system RAM requirement is non-negotiable at every tier except the Ultra 4K configuration. The 80 GB SSD requirement has no HDD fallback. IO Interactive revised these specifications multiple times before launch, and Gamerant’s coverage noted that a six-core processor “should suffice for playing 007 First Light on Medium or High settings.” If you have a gaming PC from the last five to six years with an 8 GB GPU and 16 GB of RAM, you will clear this bar, though you are at the bottom of the visual ladder.

Recommended (Windows, 1080p at 60 FPS, Medium Preset)

ComponentRequirement
OSWindows 10/11, 64-bit
ProcessorIntel Core i5-13500 or AMD Ryzen 5 7600

What this means in practice: The recommended tier targets 1080p at 60 fps on Medium settings, and the RTX 3060 Ti is a 2020 upper-mid-range card. The jump from a GTX 1660 to an RTX 3060 Ti is substantial, reflecting the game’s real-time global illumination system and dense crowd simulations. The 16 GB RAM requirement is identical to the minimum, which confirms the game’s memory footprint does not scale at 1080p. The 8 GB VRAM requirement is also identical, meaning you will not be VRAM-limited at this resolution. If you have a gaming PC from the last four to five years with an RTX 3060 Ti or better and 16 GB of RAM, you will meet this tier comfortably.

Storage80 GB available space on SSD (SSD required)
Additional NotesTargets 1440p at 60 FPS on High preset.

Source: OC3D and PlayStation Support. Last verified: 3 October 2026.

What this means in practice: The Enthusiast 1440p tier targets 1440p at 60 fps on High settings, and the jump from 8 GB to 12 GB VRAM is the most meaningful change between tiers. The RTX 4070 is a 2023 upper-mid-range card. This tier is the first to benefit from the game’s full visual feature set, including higher-resolution textures and more aggressive global illumination. If you have a gaming PC from the last three to four years with an RTX 4070 or better and 16 GB of RAM, you will meet this tier.

Enthusiast 4K (Windows, 4K at 60 FPS, High Preset)

ComponentRequirement
OSWindows 10/11, 64-bit
ProcessorIntel Core i5-13500 or AMD Ryzen 5 7600
Memory (RAM)32 GB
GraphicsNVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 or AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX
VRAM16 GB
DirectXVersion 12
Storage80 GB available space on SSD (SSD required)
Additional NotesTargets 4K at 60 FPS on High preset.

Source: OC3D and PlayStation Support. Last verified: 3 October 2026.

What this means in practice: The Enthusiast 4K tier targets 4K at 60 fps on High settings, and the jump from 16 GB to 32 GB of RAM is a significant increase. The 16 GB VRAM requirement on the RTX 4080 reflects the memory demands of 4K rendering with the game’s fully real-time global illumination system. If you own a high-end gaming PC from the last two to three years with an RTX 4080 or better and 32 GB of RAM, you will meet this tier.

Ultra 4K (Windows, 4K at 200+ FPS with DLSS 4.5, Ultra Preset)

ComponentRequirement
OSWindows 10/11, 64-bit
ProcessorIntel Core i5-13600K or AMD Ryzen 7 7700X

Additional NotesTargets 4K at 200+ FPS with DLSS 4.5 on Ultra preset.

Source: OC3D and PlayStation Support. Last verified: 3 October 2026.

What this means in practice: The Ultra 4K tier is the highest specification and targets 4K at 200+ fps with DLSS 4.5 enabled, which is an exceptionally high frame rate target for any game. The RTX 5080 is a 2025 flagship-tier card, and the 32 GB RAM requirement matches the Enthusiast 4K tier. IO Interactive has confirmed that the game supports DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation, which is how the 200+ fps target is achievable. This tier is aimed at players with high-refresh 4K monitors who want to push frame rates well beyond 60 fps. A path tracing mode is planned for post-launch in Summer 2026 and will not be available at launch.

A Note on VRAM and System RAM

The 8 GB VRAM minimum and 12 GB to 16 GB VRAM recommendations at higher tiers are the hard GPU thresholds. 007 First Light is a Glacier engine title with fully real-time global illumination, replacing the simpler lighting system from the Hitman trilogy. This places significant demands on GPU memory, and the 8 GB floor is non-negotiable: a 6 GB card will not meet even the minimum specification. The 16 GB system RAM requirement is non-negotiable at the minimum, recommended, and Enthusiast 1440p tiers, rising to 32 GB at the 4K tiers. IO Interactive has been transparent that the Xbox Series S is limited to 30 fps because of its 10 GB of RAM versus 16 GB on other consoles, and this memory constraint is the clearest indicator of how much the game relies on system memory. Do not underestimate the RAM requirement.

PC Performance Reality: Read Before Buying

The official specifications describe a demanding game, but IO Interactive has been actively iterating on performance since launch. Playground.ru’s coverage reported that the game received a major patch (version 1.1.0) that included deep optimisation of the game engine, support for AMD FSR 3.1 and FSR 4.1 for frame rate stabilisation, and the complete removal of Denuvo anti-tamper protection, which “critically reduced CPU load and improved overall performance.” The game has sold over 3 million copies as of late July 2026. If you are buying on PC, check the latest patch notes and Steam reviews for the current state.

What this means in practice: The PS5 version offers two modes. Performance mode targets 1080p at 60 fps with a dynamic resolution that can drop to 720p in demanding scenes, using FSR 3.1.5 upscaling. Digital Foundry’s testing found that PS5 “holds a steadier 60fps with fewer dips” than Xbox Series X, particularly during the plane chase sequence. Quality mode runs at 1440p and 30 fps. The PS5 Pro delivers 4K at 60 fps via PSSR 2.0, running the Quality visual profile at 60 fps, which IXBT Games confirmed is the best console experience. If you own a PS5 or PS5 Pro, this version performs well.

Xbox Series X|S

ComponentRequirement
FirmwareLatest Xbox system software
StorageNot specified on the Xbox Store listing; PC version requires 80 GB
Performance Mode (Series X)1080p at 60 fps (dynamic resolution with 720p floor), FSR 3.1.5 upscaling

Additional NotesSingle player. Xbox Play Anywhere not confirmed. Xbox achievements and cloud saves.

Source: Digital Foundry’s Xbox review, IXBT Games, and Wccftech. Last verified: 3 October 2026.

What this means in practice: The Xbox Series X mirrors the PS5’s performance profile: Performance mode at 1080p/60fps and Quality mode at 1440p/30fps. However, Digital Foundry found that PS5 holds a steadier 60 fps with fewer dips than Series X, particularly during the plane chase sequence. The Xbox Series S is limited to a single 30 fps mode with no performance option, and IO Interactive has explained this as a consequence of the console’s 10 GB of RAM (versus 16 GB on other consoles) and insufficient GPU performance for the full Glacier systems. Digital Foundry noted that the Series S version “works quite well” but has downgraded LOD, volumetric effects, and texture quality. If you own a Series X, the game runs well with minor frame drops in specific sequences. If you own a Series S, you are capped at 30 fps.

Nintendo Switch 2

ComponentRequirement

Source: Trusted Reviews, Notebookcheck, and IO Interactive. Last verified: 3 October 2026.

What this means in practice: The Nintendo Switch 2 version was delayed from the May 27 launch to Summer 2026 to allow IO Interactive additional time for optimisation. Trusted Reviews reported that a retailer listing suggests a September launch, and that the physical release will use a Game-Key Card format requiring a 75+ GB download. This is notable because Nintendo’s game cards top out at 64 GB, making a download mandatory for this game. IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak confirmed that a working Switch 2 build already existed and that development was focused on polishing performance. The developer has not confirmed graphics modes, though many expect a locked 30 fps target. If you own a Switch 2, you will need to clear significant storage space before this game launches.
