Silent Hill: Townfall System Requirements: PC Specs, PS5 Performance & Steam Deck Status

Silent Hill: Townfall is the first entry in the series from Scottish studio Screen Burn (formerly No Code), the team behind Stories Untold and Observation, and it trades the series’ traditional third-person perspective for a first-person psychological horror experience set in the fog-drenched coastal town of St. Amelia. It is built on Unreal Engine 5 with Nanite and Lumen, and it is notably more demanding than last year’s Silent Hill f. The game launched on 24 September 2026 for PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, and on PS5 as a console exclusive, with Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 versions not expected until at least March 2027. The official PC specifications were published by Konami on 30 July 2026, two months before launch, and are detailed across Wccftech, IXBT Games, and GameGPU.

Source: Wccftech, IXBT Games, and GameGPU. Last verified: 24 September 2026.

What this means in practice: The minimum tier targets 1080p at 30 fps on Low settings, and the Ryzen 5 3600 is a 2019 processor while the RTX 2060 Super is a 2019 mid-range card. The 8 GB VRAM floor is the detail that matters most: a 6 GB card will not meet this specification. The 16 GB system RAM requirement is standard for modern AAA games. The 75 GB install size is substantial and reflects the game’s Unreal Engine 5 asset pipeline with Nanite geometry and Lumen lighting. Compared to Silent Hill f, Townfall requires more RAM, a more powerful GPU, and 25 GB more storage space. If you have a gaming PC from the last five to six years with an 8 GB GPU and 16 GB of RAM, you will clear this bar, but you are at the bottom of the visual ladder.

Recommended (Windows, 4K at 30 FPS, High Preset)

ComponentRequirement
OSWindows 11 x64
ProcessorAMD Ryzen 7 5700X or Intel Core i7-9700K
Memory (RAM)32 GB
GraphicsNVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 (10 GB) or AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT (16 GB)
VRAM10 GB on the NVIDIA card; 16 GB on the AMD card
DirectXVersion 12
Storage75 GB available space
Sound CardWindows Compatible Audio Device
Additional NotesTargets 4K at 30 FPS on High preset, with DLSS, FSR, or TSR upscaling in Balanced mode.

Source: Wccftech, IXBT Games, and Vandal. Last verified: 24 September 2026.

What this means in practice: The recommended tier targets 4K at 30 fps on High settings with upscaling in Balanced mode, and the jump from 16 GB to 32 GB of RAM is one of the most significant memory increases I have seen for a 2026 release. This reflects the game’s Unreal Engine 5 rendering pipeline, which uses Nanite and Lumen to stream large amounts of geometry and lighting data through system memory as well as VRAM. The RTX 3080 is a 2020 flagship card, and the i7-9700K is a 2018 processor. The 10 GB VRAM on the RTX 3080 is the practical target for 4K rendering with upscaling. Notably, Konami has not published a specification for 60 fps at any resolution. The recommended tier is explicitly for 4K at 30 fps, not 60 fps. If you want 60 fps, you will need to wait for community benchmarks or aim higher than the published specifications.

A Note on VRAM and System RAM

The 8 GB VRAM minimum and 32 GB system RAM recommendation tell a consistent story: this is a demanding Unreal Engine 5 title. The 8 GB VRAM floor is the hard threshold, and a 6 GB card will not meet it. The 32 GB RAM requirement is unusually high for a horror game and reflects the game’s Nanite geometry streaming and Lumen global illumination systems. If you are running 16 GB, you meet the minimum, but you may encounter stuttering or texture streaming issues at higher settings. This is a case where both VRAM and system RAM are meaningful constraints, and upgrading either component alone may not be enough if the other falls short. Do not underestimate the RAM requirement.

PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro

Source: IXBT Games, Notebookcheck, and Mashable. Last verified: 24 September 2026.

What this means in practice: The PS5 version offers Quality mode at 30 fps with ~1440p internal resolution reconstructed to 4K via TSR, and Performance mode targeting 60 fps at ~1080p internal resolution. Mashable’s review, played through twice on PS5, described the performance as “smooth” with “great lighting”, scoring performance 5 out of 5. However, Notebookcheck reported that “PS5 owners also report frame rate drops, prompting calls for a release date patch”. The PS5 Pro also stutters occasionally, with the frame rate dropping to approximately 42 fps in demanding scenes despite PSSR boosting image quality. The DualSense haptic feedback and Tempest 3D AudioTech are supported. If you own a PS5, the game runs well in most scenarios, but you should be prepared for occasional drops in the most demanding areas.

Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2: Not Available at Launch

Silent Hill: Townfall is a PS5 console exclusive for at least six months. The game launched on PS5 and PC only, with Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 versions not expected until at least March 2027. IGN confirms that “the game’s official website lists only PS5, Epic Games Store, and Steam,” and Eurogamer notes that the exclusivity period “gives a rough window for when one could happen: from around March 2027 onward.” If you play primarily on Xbox or Nintendo hardware, you cannot access Silent Hill: Townfall at launch.

Steam Deck

ComponentRequirement
CompatibilityUnknown (Valve’s official rating). TheGamer and PC Gamer both list Steam Deck compatibility as “Unknown”.
Performance30 fps on Low settings with FSR Ultra Performance. Frame rate can fall well below 30 fps when entering unfamiliar buildings, according to Steam Deck HQ’s evaluation.
Additional NotesNot officially verified by Valve. The Steam Machine can hit 60 fps at 1080p on Ultra settings with FSR Quality, but the Steam Deck is significantly weaker.

Source: Notebookcheck, IXBT Games, and TheGamer. Last verified: 24 September 2026.

What this means in practice: Silent Hill: Townfall’s Steam Deck compatibility is Unknown, and the early performance data is concerning. IXBT Games reports that on Steam Deck, the game runs at 30 fps on Low settings with FSR Ultra Performance. Notebookcheck’s coverage is more troubling: “On low settings, readings can fall well below 30 fps when entering unfamiliar buildings”, and Steam Deck HQ’s evaluation described the situation as “concerning”. The game’s 8 GB VRAM minimum is a particular concern on Steam Deck, since the handheld’s GPU accesses a portion of its unified memory rather than a dedicated 8 GB pool. The 32 GB RAM recommendation is also far beyond the Steam Deck’s 16 GB. If you own a Steam Deck and want to play Silent Hill: Townfall, this is not a recommended experience at launch. Wait for post-launch patches or official Valve verification before purchasing.

macOS and Linux: Not Available

Silent Hill: Townfall is a Windows-only release on PC. There is no macOS or native Linux version available. Steam Deck users play through Proton, and the performance caveats noted above apply.

Price and Editions

Silent Hill: Townfall is available in Standard and Deluxe editions. The Standard Edition is priced at $49.99**, and the Deluxe Edition at **$59.99. The Deluxe Edition includes additional digital content. The game is available on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, and on PS5.

Final Verdict: Can Your Setup Run Silent Hill: Townfall?

Silent Hill: Townfall is a demanding Unreal Engine 5 horror game with a higher hardware floor than last year’s Silent Hill f. The minimum spec asks for an RTX 2060 Super with 8 GB of VRAM and 16 GB of RAM, which is hardware from 2019. The 8 GB VRAM floor is the hard threshold: a 6 GB card will not meet it. The 75 GB install size is substantial. If you have a gaming PC from the last five to six years with an 8 GB GPU and 16 GB of RAM, you can run the game at 1080p and 30 fps on Low settings.

The recommended tier asks for an RTX 3080 and 32 GB of RAM for 4K at 30 fps on High settings with upscaling. The 32 GB RAM requirement is unusually high and reflects the game’s Nanite geometry and Lumen lighting systems. Konami has not published a specification for 60 fps at any resolution, which is a notable gap. If you want to play at 60 fps, you will need hardware significantly above the recommended tier.

On console, the game is a PS5 exclusive for at least six months, with Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 versions not expected until March 2027. The PS5 version runs smoothly in most scenarios, with Quality mode at 30 fps and Performance mode targeting 60 fps, but frame rate drops have been reported, including on PS5 Pro where the frame rate can drop to around 42 fps in demanding scenes.

On Steam Deck, the game is not officially Verified and early performance reports are concerning, with frame rates falling well below 30 fps when entering unfamiliar buildings. The 32 GB RAM recommendation is far beyond the Steam Deck’s 16 GB, and the 8 GB VRAM minimum is a concern given the handheld’s unified memory architecture. This is not a recommended experience at launch.
