Farlands is a cosy space farming simulator from Spanish developer Eric Rodríguez (Leyendas y Videojuegos) and publisher JanduSoft, built in Unity with colourful pixel art and set across a small solar system you explore by spaceship. Performance-wise, this is one of the lightest games of 2026. The official Steam page lists identical Minimum and Recommended specifications, and the “minimum” is so low that the developer has effectively said the game will run on anything that boots. What this means in practice: The minimum tier targets 1080p at 60 fps on the game’s default settings. The 2 GHz processor requirement is deliberately broad, covering chips from roughly 2005 onward, and the 256 MB VRAM figure is one of the smallest you will see in any 2026 release. In practice, the game will run at higher resolutions and frame rates on better hardware, but JanduSoft is signalling that no upgrade is necessary. If you have a computer built in the last fifteen years with 2 GB of RAM and any DirectX 9.0c-compatible GPU, you meet both tiers. Do not upgrade your hardware for this game.

A Note on VRAM and System RAM

Farlands is a 2D pixel-art farming simulator with static backgrounds, sprite-based characters, and a minimalist UI. The 256 MB VRAM requirement is far more than the game will ever use. What this means in practice: Geek-o-Polis’s review states that on PS5 “the experience is technically very solid” and that “the power of the console allows it to display rich environments with exemplary fluidity, which is crucial for a management game where you spend your time scrutinising every corner of your map.” The game is PS5 Pro Enhanced, though JanduSoft has not specified what the enhancements entail. Given the game’s minimal technical demands, the PS5 Pro benefits are likely to be marginal. The DualSense controller is supported, and the game supports 1-2 local players and up to 4 online players with PS Plus. If you own a PS5, this version performs impeccably without any technical concerns. The PS4 version is also available, and the game is playable on PS5 via backward compatibility.

Jogando Casualmente’s Xbox Series X review scored the game 7.0/10, praising the art and design while noting that the game “fulfils what it sets out to do very well” by transporting a familiar formula into space. The Xbox Play Anywhere support is a genuine value point: a digital purchase grants access on both console and Windows PC, with cloud saves carrying progress between them. The Xbox Series S version will run at a lower resolution, though JanduSoft has not published specific targets. If you own an Xbox, the game will run without any performance concerns.

TheBigBois’ review lists the platform as “PC (Steam) · Steam Deck Verified.” The game’s 500 MB install size means it takes up almost no storage space, and the partial controller support means some functions may require touchscreen input or manual mapping, though the core farming and exploration loop works with the Deck’s built-in controls. If you own a Steam Deck and enjoy cosy farming sims, this is a comfortable portable experience with no meaningful performance caveats.

macOS and Linux: Not Available

Farlands is a Windows-only release on PC. The Steam page lists Windows as the only supported operating system, and SteamDB’s supported systems data confirms Windows only. There is no macOS or native Linux version available. Steam Deck users play through SteamOS, and the Verified badge confirms that this works seamlessly. Desktop Linux users can also run the game through Proton, though this is not officially supported by JanduSoft.

Final Verdict: Can Your Setup Run Farlands?

Yes, almost certainly. Farlands is one of the least demanding games of 2026. The Minimum and Recommended specifications are identical, asking for a 2 GHz processor, 2 GB of RAM, and a GPU with 256 MB of VRAM, which is hardware from the Windows XP era. The 500 MB install size is tiny, and there is no SSD requirement. If you own a computer built in the last fifteen years, you can run Farlands without difficulty. The developer has effectively said that if your PC boots, it can run this game.

The 2 GB RAM requirement is the same at both tiers, which confirms the game’s memory footprint is fixed regardless of settings. The 256 MB VRAM requirement is far more than a pixel-art farming sim will ever use. Do not upgrade your hardware for Farlands.
